Is DJI Banned?
Long Story Short… NO.
Here’s the long story. You may not be able to use certain funds to purchase DJI. There has not yet been an outright ban. Some state governments have set up requirements for certain agencies and will not allow DJI drones.
There is pending legislation that would put DJI on the covered entities list. This will forbid any future product from DJI to enter the US if the legislation becomes law. It’s not clear if this will pass as the House approved it; however, the Senate did not. Regardless, it’s likely all existing DJI equipment currently in use, and available for purchase will still be allowed.
Can we still purchase DJI?
YES. RMUS can help you set up your DJI equipment to maximize data security if your organization requires it.
What is NDAA Compliant?
The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) restricts the U.S. Department of Defense from purchasing equipment manufactured in a covered country or owned by a covered country. There are no entities that oversee this compliance; however, there is a self-certification process.. RMUS can provide a country of origin list to verify this compliance for systems we offer that are NDAA compliant.
What is the Green UAS list?
Green UAS Certification is handled by the trade group, AUVSI. They have a paid process to evaluate cybersecurity, NDAA supply chain requirements and other security controls. Unfortunately, this program has been slow to get started, and it’s rather costly, so there are only a handful of uncrewed systems that have been cleared.

What is the Blue List?
The Blue List drones are systems that have been vetted by the Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) and cleared for use by the Department of Defense. The program was set up to save time on the exception to policy process for the use of commercial-off-the-shelf uncrewed systems. Some federal grants require a UAS to be on the blue list for funding. Keep in mind that these drones are mainly for military use, and don’t have the feature sets needed for commercial tasks.
Does not being a “Blue UAS” preclude the Government from purchasing any other UAS that are certified compliant by the purchasing Government organization?
NO. Any DoD organization can purchase certified compliant UAS by completing their internal administrative requirements. Blue UAS provides basic verification of DoD administrative requirements but does not restrict USG organizations from purchasing non-Blue, certified-compliant UAS that fit their mission needs. Any DoD or USG organization could complete the same administrative steps that satisfy their internal requirements.
What can I purchase from RMUS?
It’s our mission to provide you with the best solution to fit your mission-specific requirements. We test all the equipment we sell and ensure it can be deployed routinely, and we provide training and support.
We still offer DJI and Autel drones which are made and owned by Chinese companies. They are cost-effective and reliable.
We offer NDAA complaint systems like Skydio, Sony, and Real Time Robotics.
And we offer systems that use Chinese components (to keep the system cost-effective) but are owned by a US entity, like Teledyne FLIR.
Call the RMUS team if you need help determining what solutions meet your requirements
